Wonder- Book Review

R. J Palacio

I started reading this book last month and finished it last week. This book is about an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face. He hasn't ever been to school, just homeschooled by his mother. He joins 5th grade in a new school. This book is about how everyone thinks about him, and how he feels in school.

This book is narrated from 5 people's point of view. August, the ordinary kid with the extraordinary face; Olivia or Via, August's sister; Jack Will, his first school friend; Justin, Olivia's boyfriend, and Miranda, Olivia's good friend.

August narrates about his life and what had happened to his face. Olivia explains a little about her life and how August looks to her. Jack Will talks about his life, how everyone thinks he is rich in terms of wealth because he goes to a private school, but he is not, and how some kids in school tease August and how he protects August from them. Justin talks about what he wants to do when he becomes an adult, and also how he protected Jack Will once when a couple of bullies were going to pounce on him, how his parents divorced when he was only 4 years old, and how they hate each other. Miranda talks about how she thinks August is and why she calls him Major Tom.

This book has a good sense of humour and I recommend this book to kids about 10 to 16 years old. Even adults will enjoy this book. This book is also soon to be a major motion picture, but it is better to read the book. The movie may be different from the book. Please do read this book. If you read it, you will laugh so much.

  2. Very well written, Agastya! I love your style of reviewing. It shows a maturity that many seasoned writers can learn from. I loved Summer. Who was your favourite character in the book? Let me know :)
